South Mississippi Weight Pulling Association and the Continental Kennel Club held May Fest 2007 over Memorial Day weekend and had an awesome time. The Saturday morning obedience competitions had quite a few dogs competing, including first-timers! Congratulations to all the dogs that passed their levels. After lunch, SMWPA began testing dogs to get their Canine Companion Certification. There are a great bunch of canine citizens! Alright, now to the main event. CKC was proud to hold their first-ever sanctioned Rail Pull. Everyone was excited to see how it would go, and it couldn’t have gone better. With the hundreds of spectators and the many dogs competing, it was a big hit and a great close to Saturday night.Congratulations to all the dogs that placed and put on a great show for the many spectators. Early Sunday morning, SMWPA was busy at work, preparing for the morning competitions, and the second weight pull of the weekend. The juniors started the day in stride with obedience competitions. After the juniors were finished, the retriever trials began. There were a few dogs competing that were like pros retrieving the bumpers. After a brief lunch break, sign-in for the much anticipated day two of Rail Weight Pulling began. The dogs were ready, and so was the crowd. It was just as exciting as the first day! Congratulations to all the dogs that placed and to all the spectators who came out to see how great a sport this is. We would also like to thank all of our sponsors who provided prize packs for the winners. It was a wonderful weekend and everyone looks forward to SMWPA’s next event.
