Because of the hurricanes last year, October Fest 2005 in Hattiesburg, MS had to be cancelled. South Mississippi Weight Pulling Association and Continental Kennel Club were excited to host October Fest 2006 without any natural disasters! It was a beautiful fall weekend and perfect for the dogs. Saturday morning they got started early setting up. That afternoon, we began Obedience competitions. Then the main event—the Weight Pull. A crowd began to gather in the stands to see these amazing dogs pull some big weight. Saturday night was a great night for the dogs. Congratulations to all the winners. Sunday afternoon we had a Conformation “Fun” Match before beginning the Sunday Weight Pull. Our CKC Weight Pulling Champions class competed on both Saturday night and Sunday afternoon, giving the dogs in other classes inspiration to push harder. In the two days, we had three dogs complete their tasks needed to become the newest Weight Pulling Champions with CKC. Congratulations Lexus, Fooko, and Yankee! They worked hard to become champions. It was a wonderful weekend. We would like to thank everyone who participated in making this October Fest a great success, all the spectators who came out to support SMWPA, sponsors for the prize packs, and to SMWPA for putting on a great event.
